Short on time but big on impact? Join us for a Batam Build! If you can't commit to a full Global Village trip, this is the perfect opportunity to make a difference closer to home. With trips as short as one day, you can build homes alongside families in need and return to Singapore the same evening. A small time commitment makes a big impact on Batam Island.
Habitat for Humanity is working to improve the lives of thousands of families by constructing new homes, latrines and water connection systems. Join our Batam Build program for a short-term volunteer experience and contribute to this vital project.

A Batam Build Experience:

Duration: 1 to 2 days

Team size: Each group should comprise of 3 to 4, or 8 to 10 volunteers

Age requirement: 18 years or older

Fitness: Volunteers should be reasonably fit and free from serious injuries or medical conditions.

On-site support: Each team will have a dedicated Habitat host coordinator in Batam

Building experience: Not required! Briefing, training and supervision are provided by experienced construction supervisors and Habitat staff at the site.

Working alongside families: Volunteers will have the opportunity to work alongside the homeowners in constructing their new home or latrine.

Construction tasks: Expect to participate in hand-mixing cement, carrying and laying bricks, and tying reinforcement bars.

Travel and logistics arrangements:
- Ferry tickets and accommodation can be arranged by Habitat staff.
- Non-Singaporean volunteers are responsible for arranging their own visas to enter Batam, Indonesia.
- Habitat will make arrangements for local transport, build site meals, accident/illness insurance and volunteer welfare logistics. -
Detailed financing and costs will be discussed upon enquiry and build specifications.
