We carefully consider local cultures, traditions, climate, and geography to create homes that meet the unique needs of each community. Our commitment to homeowner and volunteer involvement, combined with efficient building practices, ensures affordability for both construction and long-term maintenance.

Habitat for Humanity Singapore's Global Village programme sends volunteers to build in these Asia Pacific countries:
Indonesia, Cambodia, Nepal, Vietnam and Fiji.

A Global Village Experience

Duration: 3 to 7 days
Team size: 10 to 15 volunteers
Age requirement: 18 years or older
Fitness: Volunteers should be reasonably fit and free from serious injuries or medical conditions.
On-site support: Each team will have a dedicated Habitat host coordinator in build country.
Building experience: Not required! Briefing, training and supervision are provided by experienced construction supervisors and Habitat staff at the site.
Working alongside families: Volunteers will have the opportunity to work alongside the homeowners in constructing their new home
Construction tasks: Typical construction tasks include hand-mixing cement, carrying and laying bricks, tying reinforcement bars, digging trenches for septic tanks, and, for bamboo houses, nailing strips for floors.

Volunteer Preparation

Flights and Visas: Volunteers are responsible for booking their own flights and securing necessary visas.
Accommodation: Can be arranged by either Habitat for Humanity or the volunteer team.
*Costs for flights, local transport and accommodation may vary depending on travel season, team size and trip length.
Habitat will make arrangements for local transportation, build site meals, accident/illness insurance, and essential volunteer welfare logistics.
Donation support from each volunteer would vary for each build country. Estimated contribution of $1,000 - $1,300 per person. This donation directly supports the Global Village and building programme, covering construction materials, manpower and operational expenses and more.
While most teams cover the costs of a trip, volunteers are welcome to create fundraising campaigns to fund their build trip. Contact us to find out more about fundraising guidelines.

Corporate or Tertiary Groups

Global Village build trips require a minimum of 6 months advance booking. Team size may vary from 10-15 volunteers, depending on build country and work required.

Leaders forming a team

Lead a Global Village team and build homes and leadership skills! Can't find the perfect trip dates or team to join? Create your own! As a team leader, you'll plan the trip details, receive training, learn about global poverty, and become a Habitat advocate. We're looking for willing and passionate individuals with strong organizational and management skills, a connection to Habitat's mission, and a love for working with diverse teams and cultures.
