litterally 2019
Habitat Singapore organised our very first large-scale family-friendly community clean-up on Saturday, 25 May 2019.
About 650 volunteers joined us to uncover the dirty truth of what it takes to keep Singapore clean.
Following 10 curated routes through 4 typical heartland neighbourhoods, LitteRally volunteers walked and picked litter on the go.
A total of 300kg of litter was cleaned up just within 2 hours!

More than 20 Wells Fargo team members and their families joined the Habitat for Humanity LitteRally and enjoyed lending a hand to clean up one of Singapore’s neighborhoods. As a team, we collected 14 kilograms of trash on our 2-kilometer walk from Bishan MRT station to Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park – not too little when considering how clean Singapore already is.
"LitteRally is a great way to have an impact on the community while taking a pleasant walk through a nice neighborhood or park. It was very fulfilling to walk through the MRT and HDB areas and hear positive feedback and encouragement from the local residents who were observing the volunteers while they passed by. Hopefully the cleanup effort is contagious.”

“P&G is a proud longtime partner of Habitat for Humanity Singapore. Together, we nurture a spirit of volunteerism and help make our community clean. What made LitteRally even more meaningful was the opportunity to have our families and friends participate. Sharing this experience with others was very inspiring, and we will continue to work together to achieve the vision of a clean Singapore without waste bins!”

"It was a meaningful experience as we realized we cannot take our clean environment for granted, as we found litter such a cigarette butts, food packaging and plastic bottles carelessly thrown about."

About LitteRally
about litterally
LitteRally is Habitat Singapore's mass volunteering event of 2019. Held on 25th May, LitteRally is a family-friendly, free-participation-for-all event to mark the end of the month-long Keep Clean Singapore movement by the Public Hygiene Council.
LitteRally participants are invited to join us on specially curated routes that are accessible to volunteers of all ages and abilities. The routes will lead participants through the Ang Mo Kio, Bishan and Marymount estates to the main event meeting point at The Promenade in Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park - and all while picking up litter on the go!
Once arriving at The Promenade, participants are invited to visit the booths run by various green groups to take part in upcycling workshops and learn more about zero waste habits or tips on going plastic-free. If you're lucky, you may also get a photo op with Minister of Environment and Water Resources Mr Masagos Zulkifli, who will be making an appearance as our Guest-of-Honour!
We hope that with LitteRally, everyone will have a deeper sense of civic-mindedness and be aware of not contributing to the trash in our neighbourhoods. We should all be able to clean up after ourselves instead of rely on our army of cleaners. Our shared spaces as an extension of our home and it is up to us to keep home - Singapore - clean and green.
the evolution of litterally
Every year, Habitat Singapore organises one mass annual event aimed at finding meaningful ways to engage large numbers of volunteers to make a positive impact in our communities across the island. From 2 editions of Home Sweep Home, our mass event this year has evolved to emphasize sustainable living, zero waste lifestyles & healthy litter-free home environments.
LitteRally evolved from our regular litter-picking volunteering programmed called UnLitter Red Dot. It started with small groups of school & corporate volunteers cleaning up residential neighbourhoods near them to scaling up with hundreds of volunteers during Home Sweep Home.
